Winner to be announced on Thursday, March 7, He finds a surprising champion in Lady Mary Haviland, a spinster of unremarkable looks and a charming personality, who has decided to help him find a bride. Anyone with a grain of common sense would have done a little digging and thinking. He has realised the state of his father’s candicr and they seem grim.

I cannot wait to read this book!

The hero really likes her, and when he learns she’s rich, he decides she’s the one. Quotes hen A Change of Heart. When the unconventional spinster Lady Mary Haviland offers to help the confirmed rake and libertine Jack Raeburn, Marquess of Pemberton, find a wife, she has no idea that she and her money will soon Of course, I have to say that I prefer when the rogue is a hero in disguise hsart when he rebels for a reason not just to rebel to have more fun …but I digress!

Lady Mary Haviland is a 29 year old spinster, who considers herself comfortably on the shelf. I also didn’t realize when they felt in love, IF they ever did.

A Change of Heart (Proper Companion, book 2) by Candice Hern

Great review and I likewise encourage any reader to take up the Regency Romance Reading Challenge. I like the way all 3 have intertwining characters and see a huge similarity to the Pink Carnation series.

Book one was a bit light with easily overcome problems but this is so deep and true I could not leave. I loved that they were imperfect and had a genuine friendship. Unfortunately nothing new here. I enjoyed the very unusual position of Lady Mary but found her relationship with Black Jack unrealistic.

As they progress down her long list of possible young ladies, Lord Pemerton finds plausible reasons to eliminate many of them: A Change of Heart.

Dancing On the Wind.

It was just a matter of when, what, how, and why. Ah but that’s what’s interesting. Uh-oh, it looks like your Internet Explorer is out of date. As it stands, the plot is very slow moving and a lot of the relationship between Jack and Mary is told as they observe each other but do not interact.

Even his close friend Lord Sedgewick thinks or is as rich as Midas until Jack confides his dire financial mess that he inherited and need to marry an heiress. But on an unexplored hill Things were going too smoothly.

The characters were real and fun.
